After enduring the worst single year of my life in 2007 (separated from my wife of 14 years, nearly lost my mother to cancer and other ailments, lost a good friend to suicide, lost the best friend I ever had to leukemia and finally lost my job…there's more but you get the idea) I find myself living in Northern California just southwest of San Jose in a little town called Los Gatos. I have a new job working for an information technology start-up and business, for the moment anyway, looks pretty good.
One of the best features of living out here is the close proximity to Napa Valley (see the attached picture) and although I still love a good glass of wine, more recently I find the raw beauty of the landscape to be of much more interest.
Even though Silicon Valley has unrivaled professional opportunities and the weather and mountains are truly beautiful, I genuinely look forward to returning to Lakewood in July and seeing firsthand what 30 years has done for everyone else.
